Day-by-day itinerary

   Drive to Charikot and Kuri Village

   Drive from Kathmandu along the Araniko Highway to Charikot (6-7 hours), the district headquarters of Dolakha. Continue by jeep to Kuri Village at 3,447m, passing through rhododendron forests and alpine meadows. Check into a cozy lodge. The evening offers spectacular sunset over the Himalayas.

   Temple sunrise and cable car option

   Rise early for a 1-hour trek (or cable car ride) to the hilltop temple. At sunrise, the Himalayas glow in shades of pink and gold. Enter the small shrine for darshan of Bhagwati and receive prasad. The 360-degree mountain panorama is breathtaking. Descend to Kuri for breakfast, then drive back to Kathmandu via Charikot.
