Yamunotri Trek & Darshan
Begin the 6km trek (3 hours) through dense forests of rhododendron, pine, and deodar. Cross the suspension bridge over the Yamuna River. At the shrine complex, take a dip in Surya Kund — a boiling hot spring where pilgrims cook rice and potatoes in cloth bags as prasad. Darshan of the black marble Divya Shila representing the goddess Yamuna. The contrast of the freezing glacial river and the scalding hot spring in the same spot is a remarkable natural phenomenon. Descend to Janki Chatti by afternoon.

Return to Haridwar
Drive back via Barkot and Mussoorie. Stop at the scenic hill station of Mussoorie for views of the Doon Valley and the distant Himalayas. Continue to Haridwar for evening Ganga Aarti. Carry home blessed Yamuna water and prasad cooked in the hot springs — a unique souvenir of this trek.
